Jeddah, 20 October 2021: Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAUDIA), the national flag carrier of Saudi Arabia, celebrated International Chefs Day to honour the professions in culinary arts.
Commending its chefs on the occasion, SAUDIA took the opportunity to promote the Inflight Chef Service offered to the airline’s guests that aims to elevate their flying experience to the next level. SAUDIA is one of six international airlines that offers an Inflight Chef Service.
The airline had soft-launched its Inflight Chef Service in May 2015 for First Class guests on selected routes. In August 2018, the service was upgraded and expanded through its TOP 5 program extending it to Business Class as well. The service was also made available on flights of four-and-a-half hours and longer to destinations in Europe, the United States, East Asia, and North Africa. The service offers bespoke, made-to-order dishes to meet the exact demands of the guests.

The service’s 150 chefs were meticulously selected from a wide range of experienced staff in upscale hotels and restaurants. Some of the chefs currently serving the airline have worked with world-class, Michelin-certified chefs. The selected cohort were then given rigorous flight attendant training to comply with the standards of the airline.
Earlier this year, SAUDIA signed agreements with several national universities to launch diplomas in flight attendant and Inflight Chef training in an effort to develop the national talent in these two areas and help Saudi nationals fill more jobs in the Kingdom’s aviation industry.
